RISE TO REMAIN

www.risetoremain.com

"From humble beginnings in late 60s Birmingham to a digital age renaissance, British heavy metal has always thrived on new blood. Every year new acts emerge and now London’s Rise To Remain are the latest and arguably greatest young metal band of recent times.

A year since ‘Bridges Will Burn’ EP, Metal Hammer’s Best New Band and Kerrang’s Best British Newcomer awards have sent expectations and their reputation soaring - sharing stages with everyone from fellow Brit metal crews Bring Me The Horizon and Bullet For My Valentine through to the legendary Iron Maiden.

2012 see's the release of their explosive debut album ‘City Of Vultures’ and threatens to propel the band in to the upper echelons of the UK metal scene and beyond!"

Wallis Bird is back with her second album "New Boots", the follow up to 2007's "Spoons" which rocketed into the Top 10 UK Digital Album Charts, and earned her comparisons to Ani diFranco and Janis Joplin. Having toured over the last few years with artists as diverse as the legendary ... Billy Bragg.., Ivor Novello award winner .. Gabrielle..., and worldwide phenomenon duo..Rodrigo y Gabriela as well as playing hundreds of headlining shows in Europe, Wallis also clinched one of the biggest TV campaigns in recent memory when her storming cover of 'Just Can't Get Enough' was used on prime-time nationwide advertisement. She went on to win two prestigious Irish Meteor Awards, including Best Female in 2010. An impassioned performer, 'New Boots' captures much of the live energy of her shows. A 5ft 2" bundle of white heat, Wallis throws herself around the stage with wllful abandon, breaking strings, shredding her fingers from the sheer force of her playing, urging the crowd into a collective sing-a-long.

“The year was 1991 and Interscope had just won a ferocious multi-label bidding war (Which according to some accounts put an estimated 20 labels against each-other!) to sign the alternative metal band HELMET.

Nirvana had just made their commercial breakthrough and the music industry was looking for the next big thing in every backstreet venue, high school hall and garage in America. Unfortunately for them, Helmet threw the rule book out of the window and oversaw producing themselves with the help of legendary producers Andy Wallace (Who indeed had just finished working on Nevermind for Nirvana) and Steve Albini of Big Black, Rapeman and now Shellac who worked on the bands breakthrough single and biggest hit to date “In the Meantime.”

The stop-go-stop-go minimalist sound of “Meantime” changed the face of alternative music in the early 90's and continues to do so up until this day being called “Arguably the most influential and overlooked rock records of the 90s.” On this very special tour the band will perform the album start to finish in it's entirety as part of their set for the first time ever in the UK. “

an enigma vehicle for Bid's sharp lyrical humour, backed by an intoxicating baroque pop/post-punk mix that dabbled in psychedelia.

The Monochrome Set:
failed magnificently, destined to a career of obscurity, despite being the first group to release a single on Rough Trade with 'He's Frank' in 1979.

The Monochrome Set:
released four acclaimed albums (considered by all who own them to be lost classics) and disbanded in 1985; before reforming in the 90's for some low-key releases.

Multiple compilations have been issued over the years, but few Monochrome Set albums are widely available.

May 1st 1977 saw the Clash set off on their first headline tour of the UK, the White Riot Tour, and was the start of a touring career for the Clash that ended on the ill fated US Tour of 1983 when they performed in front of 254,000 people in California.

To celebrate the original White Riot Tour of 35 years ago OPG and DtB Promotions present Rebel Truce - The Clash Tribute, performing right back where it all began in Camden !

The chosen venue, Dingwalls is within gobbing distance of the original Clash rehearsal rooms is an ideal venue to stage this incredible show. Rebel Truce will be performing all the early 1976/77 songs from the set list of the White Riot Tour plus all time Clash favourites. People who have witnessed Rebel Truce are truly knocked out by their performance, quite possibly as close as your gonna get to seeing the Clash all those years ago !

Fresh from their amazing 100 Club show in September, supporting Rebel Truce are 4Jerry from Wrexham. This amazing young band capture all the spirit what was vital in 1977 performing covers and original songs that capture the essence of that time.

Starting off the night are a new band Damned Awful Sluts. Described as a cross between early Damned and the Slits not much is known about them. Everytime they play their only wish is that they get off stage before they are bottled off. Quite possibly the worst band you will ever see or hear !

Special Guest DJ Ray "Rude Boy" Gange .

Ray starred alongside the Clash in the semi BioPic know as "Rude Boy" which captured the Clash in those early Camden days. Ray will be spinning tunes that influenced the individual members of The Clash all those years ago.

Tankcsapda was formed in 1989, in Debrecen, Hungary. The group started off as a power trio with only drums, bass and guitar playing punk rock, but continuously expanded their repertoire with different elements of rock music. They initially performed in small venues and published their album on small inidependent labels. The band's first important commercial development came in 1995, with the release of their fourth album, Az Ember Tervez (Man Plans), which has become the first gold record for Tankcsapda.

In 2003, they finally crossed over to the mainstream, with the release of their Élni vagy Égni (Live or Burn) album, and two singles off this record: "Be Vagyok Rúgva" ("I'm Drunk") and "Örökké Tart" ("Lasts Forever"). After the mainstream-breaking album of 2003 and the very successful compilation album that followed, they took a left turn and released one of their heaviest albums to date, Mindenki Vár Valamit (Everyone Waits for Something), succeeded by a live album Elektromágnes (Electromagnet). Their newest album, released in October 2009, is Minden Jót (All the Best).rawl venues, outdoor arena, after show parties and daytime activities.

Launching the UK festival season each spring, London’s award winning Camden Crawl has become a calendar fixture renowned for showcasing the forthcoming year’s most hotly tipped live music artists to sell out audiences since its inception in 1995. In fact, over the years, each of the following artists played the festival when they were little known start ups launching their careers: Mogwai, Beth Orton, Snow Patrol, Hot Chip, Maximo Park, The Cribs, Mystery Jets, Plan B, Klaxons, Maccabees, Guillemots, Paolo Nutini, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Biffy Clyro, Foals, Friendly Fires, Kate Nash, Example, Frank Turner, Laura Marling, Professor Green, Florence & The Machine, Mumford & Sons, Kano, Noah & The Whale, , The XX, The Temper Trap, The Drums, Eliza Doolittle, Katy B, Maverick Sabre and the list goes on…

Now in its 11th year, the Crawl continues to act as a conduit for the best emerging artists to appear alongside surprise guests and seminal legends in front of die-hard music lovers, music industry and media under one umbrella. The event prides itself in making live music and the arts affordable and accessible to everyone and, equally, aims to grow community between the artists appearing, fans and the independent promoters behind the scenes. In order to do so, the Crawl maintains a policy to democratically book talent via a diverse committee of UK tastemakers and promote its artists on a level playing field. And, to further enhance exposure for performers and create unique value for punters, the ticket price includes a free download compilation album, magazine and programme guide featuring the talent appearing at the festival.

In 2007, the festival expanded across a weekend and has, by day, now become a sprawling multi faceted arts event featuring comedy & spoken word, film, pop quizzes, eclectic live music, crafts & art workshops, karaoke, exhibitions and more. By night, the two mile-long stretch of pavement assumes its annual position as an all out live music extravaganza playing host to more than 250 of the best new talents performing across the area’s infamous venues.

As always, tickets for the festival are exchanged for a wristband at the main entrance point allowing unlimited access to designated Crawl venues, outdoor arena, after show parties and daytime activities.
